Berlusconi, Napolitano Still enjoy large consensus

Malta Independent Sunday, 20 June 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

I read with great interest the article by Stephen Calleja entitled “Three names for one place” (TMIS, 13 June).

I recall that Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is almost 74 years old and is still enjoying strong support and popularity both in Italy and abroad.

President Giorgio Napolitano, meanwhile, is 85 years old with his birthday coming up on 29 June. He has been in politics since 1945 and has always been proactive in promoting the strengthening of democracy in Italy and in all the former Eastern bloc Soviet states. He is still very popular, loved by the Italians and enjoys a very large consensus.

I leave all reflections to the readers.
