The Maltese Women National side successfully defended the Gold Medal, won in the last edition, held in Luxembourg. This time the games were held in Armenia.

Seven countries took part, divided into two groups. Malta was in group B, with Scotland and Wales. Malta recorded two handsome victories, to progress to the semi finals, along with Scotland.

The other group was won by the host country, with Moldova in second place, to go into the last four. The winners of the two semis had convincing vicotries, with Malta winning by a 85-57 score, against Moldova. Armenia beat Scotland 86-63.

The final, played in front of a crowd of nearly two thousand spectators, saw the Malta team starting on a top note, winning the first two sessions, and going on to a 36-23 halftime advantage. Armenia's response came after the interval, winning the third session, and going to four points behind, at 52-56.

Malta, though, held good control in the last quarter, and Armenia couldn't progress any further. Malta extended their lead, and won in style, with a 74-65 score.
