Malta Independent Sunday, 18 July 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Le Méridien St Julians Hotel & Spa launched its summer barbecues – a weekly feature at the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, La Bajja, situated on the 12th floor.

Apart from the exceptional view of Balluta Bay, there will also be an array of food to feast the eyes.

Friday is Barbecue Night at La Bajja, with an impressive array of antipasto and salads for starters, followed by a mussel and leek soup with a hint of chilli and coconut, and a huge choice of barbecued meats and fish, plus other side dishes. These include marinated baby entrecote of beef; ginger and lime baby swordfish; chicken with lemon and pepper; duo of sausages with onion relish; grilled pork spare ribs basted in honey; and grilled corn on the cob. The side dishes include a caponata of Mediterranean vegetables, rice Pilaff with herbs and citrus, and spicy potato wedges.

The hotel pâtissièr’s special assortment of desserts, seasonal tropical fruits plus flavoured ice-cream and accompaniments round off the meal.

“Eating al fresco on a balmy summer’s evening is always a pleasure and our barbecue nights are especially popular both with the hotel guests and the locals,” Mark Muscat De Celis, Sales and Marketing director, said. “This weekly event is open also to our corporate clients, who can either book La Bajja or the pool area for their event.”

The Barbecue Night costs €24.95c for adults while children aged under 12 eat for free; parking is also free. Sittings are from 7 to 10.30pm. For reservations phone 2311 0000.
