HSBC Supports The Malta Hospice Movement – Children’s Summer Club

Malta Independent Sunday, 5 September 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

HSBC Malta Foundation extended its annual financial support to the Malta Hospice Movement’s Children Summer Club. There are 19 children between the age of four and 12 whose families receive support from the Hospice to attend the club.

Volunteers from different backgrounds – university students, teachers and seminarians, run the club. The 10-session programme includes outings, swimming, crafts and other entertaining activities to keep the children busy throughout the summer.

“Children meet at the club twice a week. The aim of the club is to provide respite to the children’s families, offer the children quality time and enable them to interact with other children. During this programme we also seek to identify and address the needs of these children,” said Gloria Spiteri, social worker and coordinator of the Summer Club. “HSBC, through its Malta Foundation, has been very supportive along the years, enabling the Hospice to offer this service and to continue caring for families experiencing cancer, motor neurone disease or end stage respiratory diseases.”
