Malta Independent Sunday, 10 October 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has completed compliance audits of GreenPak for the years 2006 to 2009.

Greenpak is the largest packaging waste recovery scheme in Malta and is operated by Green Dot Malta Limited. The audits were based on Mepa’s detailed testing guidelines related to permissible packaging waste recovery schemes and on the information reported to Mepa by GreenPak.

“Such compliance audit reporting respects the need for transparency and supports continuous improvement of corporate governance and sustainability of the GreenPak scheme in the long term. Moreover, such audits help management convey to stakeholders the reliability of the procedures and practices of GreenPak as operated by Green Dot Malta Limited,” said George Sammut, partner at Pricewaterhouse Coopers Malta.

Mepa’s compliance audits demand that a sound auditing procedure for traceability, monitoring and control is in place for all the packaging waste managed in relation to the respective packaging waste recovery scheme permit. The audit trail covers all packaging waste from the point of generation or collection to the end recovery or disposal facility.
