HP Holds converged infrastructure seminar in Malta

Malta Independent Sunday, 17 October 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

A by-invitation-only HP Converged Infrastructure was recently held for HP’s customers and business partners. The seminar was dedicated to a group of high level representatives and decision makers from various local business sectors including IT companies, bank representatives and telecoms, other valuable local institutions and the press.

The overall topic of the event was the HP Converged Infrastructure which is built on a next-generation IT architecture that combines virtualised compute, storage and networks with facilities into a single shared-services environment optimised for any workload. This unique approach helps businesses accelerate application delivery in a predictable, repeatable way that makes the most efficient use of IT, facility and staff resources to drive business innovation.

The attendees learnt how to:

Reduce application infrastructure provisioning time from months to minutes

• Generate 2x the productivity and payback in less than a year

Seamlessly integrate into existing infrastructure

• Save weeks of planning and implementation

Improve recovery time by up to 80 per cent

• Reduce costs, cables, space and management time

Another newcomer is the HP BladeSystem Matrix, which converges compute, storage and network resources and can be easily purchased and quickly deployed. It instantly adjusts to dynamic business demands and transforms the economics of your data centre. And every HP BladeSystem Matrix is pre-configured and installed by HP professionals to quickly get your shared services platform ready for business.

HP Integrity systems, based on the revolutionary Blade Scale architecture, deliver a mission-critical Converged Infrastructure today – providing a flexible foundation for the IT environment of tomorrow. It effectively helps you move from “one-of-everything IT” to “one infrastructure that does everything”, resulting in a common, modular platform from x86 to Superdome systems.

Cloud computing is one of the hottest topics at the moment. It represents a new way for IT to meet the dynamic requirements of the business. It requires a new way of managing, governing and securing your hybrid services environment. Cloud computing is a style of computing where scalable and elastic IT-enabled capabilities are delivered as a service to customers using Internet technologies

HP Data Protection, which is becoming more and more crucial for businesses, was presented in more detail. The HP StorageWorks D2D Backup Systems with HP StoreOnce deduplication provide disk-based data protection for data centres and remote offices. Automate and consolidate the backup of multiple servers onto a single, rack-mountable device while improving reliability by reducing errors caused by media handling.
