Inspired by a Revolutionary Road Trip and Royal Underground clubbing scene

The Guess Jeans Collection for the autumn/winter season was launched recently at The Point, where guests not only previewed the collection but also enjoyed entertainment by a guest DJ and were given the opportunity to win a denim outfit or denim bag. Inspired by the spirit of a Revolutionary road trip and a young, urban lifestyle synonymous with the Royal Underground clubbing atmosphere of the 1980s and early 90s, the collection affirms the Denim DNA of the brand. The collection is fresh and striking with favourite jeans styles and all-new, skinny-fits in stretch and super-stretch, for both him and her.

Patterns and colours in the collection are pervaded by these moods, creating a myriad of checks and plaids for shirts and for outerwear. The men’s collection includes biker jackets in many types of fabrics and also in leather, down jackets with playful inserts and new stitching, as well as casual blazers accompanied by classic-cut shirts. On the other hand, in the women’s collection the Revolutionary Road influence gives birth to a “downtown mix of ethnical meets the army”, with multi-layered silhouettes that combine a soft, military attitude, a naïve, folk twist and tailored, power-shoulder tops, adorned with a range of collage graphics, generating a very layered composition.

Military, always the ace of Guess collections has been reinvented in a pea-coat and in a variety of trench coats for men and remains an important part of the women collection where it is reinterpreted in a new style with garments that can be matched easily with new, jersey t-shirts and acid-wash jeans giving an extremely edgy look. The collections progress into the winter months, creating a dark Royal Underground glamorous, clubbing atmosphere with hedonistic echoes of the 1980s party scene and the early 1990s.

For autumn Guess has also unveiled an iconic advertising campaign by world renowned photographer Ellen von Unwerth, whose lens captured the magic of the classic Guess campaigns of the 1980s and 1990s and immortalized the famed Guess models Claudia Schiffer, Carre Otis, and Eva Herzigova. The newest partnership between Guess and Unwerth will be unveiled in top magazines this autumn marking a return to the company’s roots. This black and white Guess autumn 2010 campaign revisits one of Guess’ and Unwerth’s most memorable shoots in Tennessee, where Unwerth first shot Claudia Schiffer in 1989. Over 20 years later, Guess returns to Memphis, the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll, with a story following three rebels as they embark on a road trip to Memphis and try and make their mark on the music scene.

Either dressed up for a special occasion or chicly casual every day, Guess people will step out this season in all the latest trends. Each single garment in the Guess collection shows particular care and attention to finish and the importance of personalisation through added value and play on refined details, satisfying the tastes of even the most demanding individuals.
