Melita is one of the first local companies to officially make the cut as Equal Opportunity Employer. The certification, which was awarded by the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE) through the European Social Fund (ESF), was presented by Education Minister Dolores Cristina during a presentation ceremony held last week.
During the past year Melita has invested heavily in its human resources, with special focus on enhancing and expanding its Customer Care team in order to offer a better experience to all clients. This investment was carried out while adhering to international standards of equal opportunities employment. Throughout the whole process Melita’s human resources department has been instrumental in ensuring that all employees are offered the appropriate support, training and opportunities, irrespective of gender.
“As a company, Melita strongly believes in gender equality and equal opportunities. Under the direction of our HR Department, Melita continuously demonstrates a strong commitment towards equal opportunities in employment and we have implemented these values consistently. We are proud to be one of the first Maltese companies to receive the award and I’d like to thank the whole management team at Melita for continuously promoting our equal opportunities values,” said Melita’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Andrei Torriani.
The NCPE provides assistance and information to the general public regarding family friendly measures, provisions in Maltese legislation regarding equality issues (gender and race), sexual harassment, employment and gender, education and discrimination, equal pay for work of equal value, women’s participation in politics and decision making, racism and diversity management amongst other issues.
