FinanceMalta is leading a high profile delegation to Hong Kong for a week of conferences and seminars in the territory that will end with a jointly organised seminar with Malta Enterprise on 12 November. The delegation will be headed by FinanceMalta chairman Kenneth Farrugia, the executive chairman of Malta Enterprise, Alan Camilleri, and FinanceMalta’s head of business development Bruno L’ecuyer. The delegation also includes senior staff from HSBC, KPMG, Bentley Reid Trust, and Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates, who are all sponsoring the event.
Entitled “Doing business in Europe through the Malta Financial Centre” the half day event is aimed at investors operating in the fields of both financial services and high added value manufacturing who are exploring an onshore European business location.
FinanceMalta chairman Kenneth Farrugia summed up what the Maltese delegation will seek during the visit: “Hong Kong has close economic ties with mainland China, a well-established, deep and liquid market and a world class regulatory regime, making it a good fit with the very high regulatory standards in Malta. With a broad range of investment products and a critical mass of financial talent with international exposure, Hong Kong can benefit greatly from understanding how Malta’s financial centre can facilitate growth for these businesses in Europe. the delegation will seek to communicate and educate investors on the very clear and transparent advantages of doing business in Europe though the Malta Fianncial Centre.’’
The trip includes networking at the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners Asian Conference following an invitation by the CEO who was in Malta in October. In addition, FinanceMalta will be following up on contacts made at the Network Management conference that was held in Malta this summer and attracted over 300 foreign delegates.
