Helping Tourism enterprises tap EU funds

Malta Independent Saturday, 6 November 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

Representatives of ICON, an ICT company, spoke at a practical workshop on 'Tapping Tourism Grants', organised by DConsulta, an organisation responsible for advising local businesses and enterprises on tapping EU funds.

The seminar focused on the key areas that businesses should consider when applying for the Grant Scheme for Tourism Projects by Enterprises (2007-2013). The scheme, which is being managed by the Tourism and Sustainable Development Unit of the Office of the Prime Minister directs funds towards the economic development of the tourism sector. Sustainable projects should strengthen Malta's competitive advantage in tourism, increase the use of ICT, encourage best environmental practices as well as promote innovation in the industry.

ICON, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month, is no stranger to the tourism industry. One of its most recent products, an end-to-end solution is designed to cater for hotels, tour operators, car rental companies and cruises. Christine Falzon and Jeremy Dingli, represented the company.
