Superior Health insurance cover from Middlesea Insurance

Malta Independent Saturday, 13 November 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Middlesea Insurance has recently improved its current portfolio of Healthcare Schemes. Higher limits now apply to out-patient benefits such as General Practitioners’ charges; a range of tests including those related to pathology, radiology, diagnostic tests and physiotherapy, as well as CT scans and MRI; professional fees for specialist consultations; diagnostic procedures including pathology, physiotherapy and radiology as well as ECG on an out-patient basis; at a minimal additional premium. The new portfolio also provides for higher limits for emergency local road ambulance and the benefit for home nursing. Moreover, certain schemes now include a benefit for prescription drugs on an out-patient basis, in addition to the benefit for prescription drugs following a surgical procedure.

Simon Anastasi, Chief Officer in charge of Health Insurance at Middlesea Insurance explained that “while subscribers are having their level of cover enhanced by means of these new benefit levels, they are not being requested to update their medical history, as is normally required in such circumstances. This means that our subscribers will enjoy the advantage of substantially higher benefits even if their state of health may have deteriorated, without the need for further underwriting”.

Another benefit being offered is that newborn children can now be added to either the father or to the mother’s cover, meaning that the child will be covered free of charge until the next annual renewal date. Mr Anastasi highlighted the fact that the majority of Middlesea’s Health Insurance policies also include a “Second Medical Opinion Service” which gives the subscriber access to a network of acknowledged international medical experts.

Meanwhile, Middlesea Insurance has also introduced an additional scheme for Corporate Groups – The Intermediate Health Insurance Scheme. This scheme gives employers the option to upgrade the level of cover for their employees to a higher level of cover in return for a nominal additional cost and with no underwriting involved. This means that there are now more options available to employers considering insuring their employees through a healthcare scheme.
