Technology is persistently evolving in parallel with new eras and fresh findings. Local web Development Company ICON analysed the top technologies for the coming year, as identified by the world’s leading IT research and advisory corporation, Gartner Inc.
During the Gartner Symposium/ ITxpo, analysts explained that enterprises will benefit from strategic technology. It can be an existing technology that has been improved and made suitable for different contexts, or an emerging lucrative technology that offers great business opportunities. Companies should be aware of upcoming possible technologies and stay ahead of the curve. Thus forecasting and investing in the future requires organisations to know which ‘new’ technologies will take them to the next step.
Gartner highlights main strategic technologies which enterprises should deploy during 2011:
Cloud Computing allows users to access applications online, without installing them on their computers. Yahoo email and Gmail are two simple examples of Cloud Computing where users do not need a software or server to access their accounts, but just an Internet Connection.
Social Communications – Gartner, who predicts that by 2016 social technologies will be integrated with business applications, sustains that companies should plan an entire strategy, including social CRM, internal communications, and public social initiatives. Social communications include networks such as Facebook and Twitter, social collaborations such as blogs, social publishing including YouTube and social feedback referring to sites like Digg and flickr.
Video – In spite of not being the latest media form, Gartner sees the ‘video’ as the common content type and interaction model among most users. People will progressively be exposed to pictures, video or audio.
Context-Aware Computing anticipates the users’ needs, and serves the most appropriate content for an exceptional user-experience. Companies will have context-aware systems that serve clients/ employees or business partners with customised information.
