Administrators have been appointed for the holiday park operator Pontin's Limited, which employs around 850 staff across five sites in Britain at Brean Sands in Somerset, Camber Sands in Sussex, Pakefield in Suffolk, Prestatyn Sands in Wales and Southport in Merseyside.

Jane Moriarty, David Costley-Wood and Rob Croxen have been appointed as joint administrators. They have said they are in the process of appointing an experienced leisure operator to Pontin's so that it continues trading.

It is expected that all five sites will continue to trade as normal and no redundancies of staff have been made at this time.

"Pontin's is an iconic British brand which forms the backdrop to thousands of treasured family holiday memories," administrator Ms Moriarty, a restructuring partner at KPMG, said.
