During Tuesday’s session on the Malta Stock Exchange, the Index extended gains it registered on Monday as it edged up by 0.3 per cent to close the session at the 3,486.536 level. In the equity market, gains were registered across four equities, three of which are in the banking sector. Meanwhile, only a single equity ended the day in negative territory, while activity was spread across a total of five different companies as investors exchanged 59,915 shares over 29 deals.
In the banking sector, Lombard Bank Malta was the day’s best performer as its shares rose by 3c, which equates to an increase of 1.2 per cent to close at €2.600. Meanwhile, activity in the Bank resulted when investors transacted 3,400 shares across 4 deals for a market consideration of €8,839.
Likewise, Bank of Valletta shares also ended the day in positive territory, as the equity rose by 0c6, or 0.2 per cent to end the session at the €3.725 level. The Bank also registered the day’s highest number of deals as investors transacted 25,115 shares across 20 deals. Meanwhile, bids of 3,891 shares at €3.720 and offers of 1,032 shares at €3.725, where the day’s best unsatisfied positions at the close of the trading session.
HSBC Bank Malta was also on the list of gainers during the session as its share price rose by 2c1 or 0.7 per cent to close at €2.921. Activity was nevertheless subdued as two investors transacted just a mere 400 shares. Meanwhile, FIMBank was the day’s sole loser as the equity dropped by 2c9 of a US dollar, or 3.1 per cent to close at $0.921.
Elsewhere, Malta International Airport shares ended the day on a positive note as the equity gained a marginal 0c1 or 0.06 per cent to close at €1.650. Meanwhile, the company published details of passenger movements during the month of November. During this period passenger movements reached 202,718, the highest number ever registered in November. The increase in passenger movements, when compared to the same month last year, is equivalent to an increase of 12.5 per cent.
Despite not being active during today’s trading session, GO announced that Forgendo Limited, the joint venture company between GO and Emirates International Telecommunications, has acquired a further 1,299,439 shares in Forthnet S.A. issued share capital. Forgendo’s shareholding in Forthnet, now stands at 40.7147 per cent.
