Doubles upload speeds for cable internet customers

Melita has completed an investment programme to upgrade its internet cable infrastructure for an even better internet experience with practically all Melita subscribers now benefiting from doubled upload speeds.

Internet upload speeds are now starting at 512 kilobits per second (kbps), even reaching 1 Megabit per second (Mbps) for the higher-tier packages, thus making it quicker and more efficient for customers to upload content on the popular sites such as Facebook, YouTube and other social networking sites. This upgrade will be particularly beneficial for online gamers as response time is reduced and improves their overall experience.

Following the new upgrade, subscribers are now also experiencing faster downloads and browsing speeds even during peak hours.

The investment, which forms part of a wider strategy to consolidate Melita’s position as the leader in broadband Internet services, also means that the Melita network is now prepared for the next generation of broadband services.

Customers who would like to verify their download speeds can make use of an internet speed test function, a link to which has been made available on the revamped Melita website. The speed test, managed by renowned www.speedtest.net can be run at any time of day by any Melita client having access to the Internet and is an easy and free way of knowing the download and upload speed at any point in time.

Based on customer feedback, Melita continually optimises its cable infrastructure and continues to invest in additional technology to enhance the level and efficiency of its broadband service.

Melita internet subscribers already enjoy the fastest speeds using the latest generation of cable technology, with a super package that offers an unprecedented speed that reaches 50 Mbps throughout the Maltese Islands.
