IFS-Malta Committee member Peter Calleya has been elected to the Executive Committee of the European Banking and Financial Services Training Association (EBTN). The appointment was confirmed at a recent meeting of the EBTN Board of Directors held in Amsterdam.

Mr Calleya will serve as Treasurer of the Association for the period 2011-2014. At the same meeting, Mr Clemens Spoorenberg from The Netherlands Institute for Banking, Insurance and Investment was elected President.

Mr Calleya has been a financial services professional for over 25 years. He is a Fellow of the IFS School of Finance (UK) and an elected member of IFS-Malta since 2003, where he has been very involved in the Institute’s educational and academic activities. He is also an examiner and part-time lecturer at the University of Malta.

Mr Calleya was instrumental in achieving EBTN membership for IFS-Malta, where it has now been active for a number of years, and has participated in various activities and EU projects. Last year he also coordinated the development of EBTN’s future strategy.

EBTN is a non-profit making association that aims to promote a high-quality standard approach to education and training and share best practices within the financial services sector. At present it consists of over 30 full members hailing from all over Europe, together with a number of affiliated and associate members. All member organisations are involved in banking and financial services education and training.
