Malta Freeport Terminals recently installed at its facilities an IP video surveillance system covering the entire Freeport grounds to monitor and fully control its facilities and operations with high-powered cameras and lenses for both day and night vision.
The main aim of the system is to provide among others all the necessary visual information required to make the right decisions regarding the observation of localised and hazardous areas, roadway surveillance, decrease the exposure to unnecessary risks, verifications of incidents as well as the prevention of vandalism.
The installation was undertaken by Alberta, a provider of fire, safety and security systems, after winning a competitive tender and was implemented by Alberta in three phases in accordance with established timeframes.
The IP Network Cameras photograph the identified site round the clock providing the security staff and Freeport’s management overall site surveillance. All the remote cameras are connected to a remote, centralised computer room and viewed from a remote surveillance control room.
