Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri has announced a strategic agreement between the Ministry, InvestGozo, and the global events and media company SiGMA, paving the way for a series of exclusive and high-level events to be hosted in Gozo over the coming weeks. These form part of the lead-up to the flagship SiGMA Euro-Med 2025 summit, which will take place in Malta from September 1st to 3rd.
"We want Gozo to benefit from the economic impact this global event brings to the Maltese Islands. This strategic agreement recognises Gozo's unique potential and character. It forms part of our broader efforts to strengthen quality tourism and investment on the island," said Minister Clint Camilleri.
While Gozo is renowned for its serene landscape and rich cultural heritage, Minister Clint Camilleri emphasised that the island is guided by clearly defined strategic objectives established by the government, focusing on sectoral economic growth and investment, rooted in innovation and sustainable development.
"This collaboration with SiGMA marks a significant step in our ongoing mission to position Gozo as a strategic hub for sustainable investment and innovation. These high-level retreats will not only spotlight the island's unique potential but also strengthen our long-term vision by fostering meaningful partnerships aligned with our economic roadmap," he added.
Minister Clint Camilleri also highlighted infrastructure improvements that are helping Gozo attract high-value industries, including enhanced digital connectivity through the second fibre optic cable, extended fast ferry services, and the upcoming airfield project. "These advancements are creating easier access for both leisure and business travel, enhancing Gozo's prospects as a premium investment destination. With guidance from the Gozo Regional Development Strategy and Malta Vision 2050, and through InvestGozo, we remain fully committed to building the right environment for sustainable economic growth, quality employment, and long-term resilience, while safeguarding Gozo's distinct character and identity."
Director for Tourism and Economic Development, Ronald Sultana, stated that this partnership with SiGMA aims to promote Gozo as a regional investment centre. "We are going beyond virtual exposure by physically hosting around 100 investors on the island. This marks a milestone in Gozo's engagement with the global investment community."
For the first time, Gozo will play a prominent role in SiGMA activities, with the Ministry for Gozo and Planning actively participating in this landmark conference. The partnership will also bring together other stakeholders to ensure strong visibility and foster engagement from key attendees.
Emily Micallef, CEO of SiGMA Group, said, "We're proud to launch two key events as part of SiGMA Euro-Med 2025. The Affiliate Retreat, taking place from 28-30 August, will host 50 top-tier affiliate leaders. These individuals shape online communities and consumer journeys, generating millions in visits and revenue."
Minister Clint Camilleri was welcomed to SiGMA Group headquarters by CEO Emily Micallef, CFO Clive Terribile, and COO Heathcliff Farrugia. The visit included a guided tour of the premises, followed by a private meeting.
