The recently setup Pegasus Riding Club has held its first Show Jumping championship event for the season at the Tal-Maghtab Equestrian Centre in Maghtab.

A total of four show jumping events will take place in the 2011 Equestrian calendar and from which riders will be able to obtain championship points.

Over 40 riders hailing from all local clubs took part in the event, jumping in eight different classes starting from 50cm and going up to 120cm.

All classes were closely contested with quite a few jump offs being required. A jump off is necessary when riders obtain equal points in a particular class, and are used to establish the first second and third placing of that class.

“The first local championship of the season was a great success. Apart from the enthusiasm shown, the calibre of the riders has increased from the last season.” said David Restall, President of the Pegasus Riding Club. “We, as a committee, are very much looking forward to the continuation of the season’s local show jumping championships.”
