Major American clothes retailers Gap and Banana Republic have extended their online shopping offering to Malta and seven other EU states, the San Francisco-based Gap Inc. announced this week.

As such, customers in Malta, Austria, Estonia, Finland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovakia and Slovenia now can shop at Gap and Banana Republic online through its dedicated European e-commerce sites at www.gap.eu and www.bananarepublic.eu

Customers in Malta can use the English-language version of the websites, pay in Sterling and have their orders shipped right to their doorsteps.

“We’re excited to accelerate Gap Inc.’s global online expansion and extend our exceptional online experience to more European customers,” said Stephen Sunnucks, president of Gap Inc., Europe and Strategic Alliances.

“Launching in eight additional European countries underscores the loyalty and enthusiasm customers in Europe have shown for our online brands since the sites were launched last August.”

The websites were originally launched in the United Kingdom, and were expanded in October to include nine more European countries. With this recent expansion, customers in a total of 18 European countries can now buy from Gap Inc.’s dedicated European sites.
