I refer to recent statements by Pierre Cordina − my friend and fellow ‘Zebbugi’− who is also a member of the anti-divorce movement Zwieg Minghajr Divorzju.
He has tried to give the impression that I tried to mislead the House during the recent divorce debate when I referred to an interview he gave to The Times (3 March). This is the statement I referred to during the parliamentary sitting in question: “If the state had a divorce law it would be very easy for me to start getting nagging thoughts like: ‘Am I really going to spend all my life with Mireille?’ Every day I will start considering the option of divorce.”
I stand by what I said in the House. If this is the way Pierre and the anti-divorce movement he forms part of really see things, they have a manifestly skewed perception of the institution of marriage.
