The doctoral research work of Dr Mark Azzopardi was recently approved and published as one of the main works by two prestigious eJournals: Pension Risk Management eJournal and Mutual Funds, Hedge Funds & Investment Industry eJournal. The other approved authors hail from the IMF(World Bank), Bank of England and other top universities. Moreover, on 8 March his paper was listed on SSRN’s Top Ten download list for Pension Risk Management eJournal.

His doctoral research showed how pension funds deficits can be reduced by coordinating assets with liabilities through a combination of new investment concepts namely liability driven investments and portable alpha.

He obtained his first degree from the University of Malta, moving on to Webster University of London where he obtained his Masters in Finance. He specialised in financial risk management and structured investment products.

Dr Azzopardi recently graduated magna cum laude with a doctorate degree in business administration specialising in Finance from an accredited international business school in Geneva.

Mark Azzopardi co-founded Jesmond Mizzi Financial Services in 2002 and currently holds the post of executive director of investments and finance at Atlas JMFS Investments Limited, a company formed last year following the merger of Atlas Investments and Jesmond Mizzi Financial Services.

His career in financial services started in Geneva when he was reading for his Master’s degree and he was offered a post in financial risk management at Edmond de Rothschild Group. Dr Azzopardi was also Chief Financial Analyst at a publicly listed financial services organisation and member of advisory committee on two SICAVs. Today, he holds various directorships and is also a member of an investment committee that advises a Professional Investor Fund. At Atlas JMFS he deals with clients’ assessments and advice and manages the Investment and Finance division of the company.
