Middlesea Group Supports Caritas Shelter at San Blas

Malta Independent Saturday, 28 May 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 16 years ago

After participating in the CSR Day on 19 March, MSV Life plc decided to extend its support to the Caritas Shelter at San Blas. MSV Life teamed up with its associate company Middlesea Insurance plc to organise a Dress Down Day to raise funds. The money collected was used to purchase kitchen utilities and beddings which the shelter needed to cater for the daily needs of its residents.

The Caritas Shelter at San Blas offers help to homeless males with a drug abuse problem. The Shelter is intended to provide residents with a caring, homely and warm environment to give them the stability and support which may be missing from their lives. It also acts as a concrete means of containing criminal activity associated with rampant drug use and homelessness, in order to provide a safer society.

Members of staff of Middlesea Group visited the Shelter in April. This provided them with the opportunity to interact with the residents. After lunch, which was prepared for by the residents, all were encouraged to participate in an experience-sharing session. The presentation of gifts, followed by afternoon coffee concluded this truly fulfilling experience. Residents and staff at the Shelter were very grateful and showed their appreciation towards Middlesea Group and its staff members.

In line with its Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, the Group is committed to help institutions such as the Shelter at San Blas which strives to provide a safer and better quality of life for vulnerable persons and which also directly and indirectly benefits the Maltese Society as a whole.
