MIM And IoD-Malta launch workshops on Corporate Governance

Malta Independent Saturday, 25 June 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

A joint initiative between the Malta Institute of Management (MIM) and the Institute of Directors Malta Branch (IoD), will see a series of workshops being conducted with the support of the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) entitled ‘Powers, Functions and Duties of Company Directors’ between 30 June and 28 July at the MFSA premises.

The workshops will serve as part of a consultative framework with the intention of compiling and presenting a report to the MFSA with a view to improve the quality of corporate governance in Malta and to update its initial guidelines on the subject.

In order to scope out the intended MFSA report, a series of five workshops will be held to provide a fuller understanding of the issues involved in what has been described as a complex issue that concerns both stakeholders and shareholders as well as the officers of a company. The first session on June 30 will be addressed by the IoD Head of Corporate Governance in the UK, Roger Barker.

The following four workshops will be held on July 7, 13, 21 and 28.
