The first ever Mercedes-Benz Malta Fashion Week proved to be the ideal platform to launch some of the best creative talent that Malta has to offer in this sector, and one name that certainly stands out from this year’s edition is Fersani.
This new Maltese fashion label was the realisation of a personal dream created by Lucienne Ferry and Mary Grace Pisani, (hence the name) who got together to create a high level quality fashion brand that is really “Made in Malta”.
“I have always been inspired by fabrics, colours and patterns and to set up a designer label has been a lifelong dream for both myself and Lucienne”, explains Mary Grace. The designs, style and finish of the collection was so well received that Fersani was nominated and won the prestigious Upcoming Fashion Designer award in this year’s edition of the Diet Coke Malta Fashion Awards. Fashion enthusiasts and writers from places as far flung as India and Canada were left with a very positive impression of Fersani’s high level of design, innovation and detailed craftsmanship and the brand is receiving a great deal of online and print publicity at the moment.
The first Fersani Spring/Summer 2011 collection was launched at a lavish fashion show held at Casino Maltese in Valletta. A team of Spanish models brought over for the occasion, and the superb Stephanie Spiteri paraded a number of gowns and outfits made from a variety of fabrics and accessories. Hand painted prints created by Mary Grace herself and highly detailed headpieces created by Rosanne Spiteri Stafrace really charmed the audience; and with jewellery from GB Jewellers continued to give the outfits an elegant edge that is rarely seen locally. While work is under way to launch the Autumn/Winter collection in the coming months, the directors of Fersani have a wealth of knowledge and expertise to create dresses for special occasions that are truly outstanding and memorable works of art and fashion statements in themselves.
