The historic and spectacular backdrop of the Valletta Waterfront welcomes Epoka tomorrow, an evening in celebration of Maltese folklore on the eve of the traditional feast of Imnarja.
The Valletta Waterfront will take a step back into the 18th century as from 7.30 p.m. onwards, a mix of music, crafts, food, dance and games will offer an evening of fun-filled entertainment and culinary delights guaranteed to please people of all ages.
“We have put a lot of planning into this event to ensure that no one will leave the Valletta Waterfront disappointed. The entrance for this event is free, and parking will be available on the quays or at the Park and Ride in Floriana.
“Moreover, to ensure a smooth running of this spectacular event, the Valletta Waterfront will also provide free transport to and from the new Park and Ride from the new Sunday market location,” John Portelli, Chief Executive of VISET Malta plc, developers and operators of the Valletta Waterfront, said.
The event will kick-off outside the Qbar with the reading of the Bandu, followed by the official opening ceremony on the quayside. The renowned historical re-enactment group HGRM will also perform the traditional lighting of a bonfire with the Grand Master.
Throughout the evening there will be live performances by the internationally acclaimed Mediterranean folk group Nafra, as well as performances by Tony Camilleri, Ludwig Galea and the Paul Curmi dancers and strolling musicians.
One of the many highlights of the evening will be live demonstrations showcasing Maltese traditional crafts with over 60 artisans displaying and selling their works of art from jewellery, paintings and filigree. Other stalls will also sell traditional homemade Maltese cuisine.
