Just Two shares trade on MSE

The Malta Stock Exchange Index dropped just over three points on Tuesday to close at the 3,319.557 level as shares of just two equities comprised the total of trading volume in the session.

Malta International Airport plc suffered the day’s biggest loss, dropping 3c, or 1.8 per cent, to close at €1.680 in a single trade of 1,000 shares.

The other equity to trade during the day was that of Bank of Valletta plc, which shed a marginal 0c1, or less than 0.1 per cent, to round out trading in the equity market at €2.680 in seven deals for a total of 10,190 shares.

In the corporate bond market trading finished mixed with six of the twelve issues to trade closing higher and three ending lower. The 7.5% Mediterranean Investments Holding plc EUR 2012-2014 bond put in a strong showing by gaining €9.00, or 11.3 per cent, to close at €89.000 in two deals for a total of €5,594 nominal. A bond from the same issuer, namely the 7.5% Mediterranean Investments Holding Plc € 2015 bond closed €8.00, or 10.0 per cent higher, to end at €88.000 in two trades for a total of €12,500 nominal. Also higher was the 6.5% International Hotel Investment Plc € 2012/14 bond which gained €3.000, or 3.0 per cent, in a single deal of €4,000 nominal. Finishing on the downside was the 6.25% International Hotel Investment Plc € 2015-2019 bond, which shed €0.50, or 0.5 per cent, to end the day at €99.500 on volume of €20,000 nominal across two deals. Also lower was the 7.15% Melita Capital plc € 2014-2016 issue, which dropped €0.17, or 0.2 per cent, to end the session at €100.080 in two deals for a total of €10,000 nominal.

In the government bond market trading also finished mixed with four bonds closing lower and three bonds finishing higher. The biggest mover was the 5.25% MGS 2030 (I) bond, which fell €0.450, or 0.4 per cent, to end at €101.500 in five deals for a total of €50,000 nominal.
