Malta Independent Thursday, 7 July 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Two Gozo tourism related papers, originally presented during the second Island Dynamics Conference which was held last May in Valletta, are being presented to the Gozitan public.

The two papers: “Exploring the Socio-Cultural Framework for Social Tourism on Gozo, Malta”, by Marjan Moris and Jori Decoster and “Gozitan Taxi Drivers as Cultural Brokers” researched by Vicky Steylaerts (all from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium) will be presented at the Circolo Gozitano, 6, Sir Adrian Dingli Street, Victoria, on Tuesday during an activity starting at 8pm and lasting about 90 minutes.

These papers are the result of anthropological fieldwork carried out by students and academic staff over the last five years on the island, in the context of Expeditions Summer School for Anthropology. Background information to the Expeditions project on Gozo can be found at www.anthropologyfieldschool.org

A group of students, attending this year’s summer school will be very interested in meeting members of the public to learn more about Gozo.

After the activity attendees are invited to continue the discussion over dinner. A delicious meal will be prepared by Maji. Price is €20 per person. Booking on mobile No: 99456851 is required.

No bookings are required from those who will be attending only for the presentations of the two research papers.
