Fifteen of Malta’s leading companies gathered at the Hilton Malta to celebrate their selection as country representatives at this year’s European Business Awards, sponsored by HSBC. Over 100 members of the business community met to hear more about the companies who have fought off tough competition to secure their place to represent Malta in the awards programme that last year engaged more than 15,000 businesses across Europe.
The companies that will be representing Malta are AquaBioTech Ltd, Architecture Project, Camilleri Holdings Ltd, Castille Resources, Computime Ltd, Consolidated Biscuit Co. Ltd, Content House, Crimsonwing plc, Dedicated Micros (Malta) Ltd, DeMicoli & Associates, The General Soft Drinks Co. Ltd, Malta International Airport plc, Myoka Ltd, Robert Arrigo & Sons Ltd and The Xara Palace Relais and Châteaux. A total of 185 organisations have been selected across Europe to represent their countries, now competing for 100 Ruban d’Honneur prizes, and subsequently one of just 10 overall European Business Awards. The final 10 award winners will be announced in November.

European Business Awards chief executive Adrian Tripp said: “Each year we witness impressive entries from many outstanding companies who have some great stories to tell. This year is no different; the quality of applicants is rising as is the number of entrants, so the organisations that have achieved country representative status truly are the best of the best. They will go on to fly the flag for their countries as they battle it out across Europe in the next round to scoop a Ruban d’Honneur.”
The 185 country representatives will now be judged by an eminent panel of economists, academics, business leaders, politicians and media owners. They will evaluate the entries and 100 Ruban d’Honneur recipients will be announced on 28 July.
These recipients will be invited to attend the final stage in September, when they will give face-to-face presentations and interviews to a panel of judges who will then determine the overall European Business Award winners. Award winners will be honoured at a gala awards presentation ceremony in Barcelona on 22 November.
