The first glasses-free 3D smartphone is now available on the market. One of the first smartphones to integrate 3D into its display is the HTC Evo launched this month.
“It was only a matter of time for 3D to be integrated into smartphones” said Alexandre Froment-Curtil, Head of Marketing at Vodafone Malta. “Media convergence, the popularity of 3D gaming and the increasing interest in 3D movie blockbusters have all conspired to bring to consumers 3D in the palm of their hand. And here it is! What’s more, on the HTC Evo 3D, users can watch 3D home movies or entertainment without 3D glasses. Vodafone prides itself as being a market leader with a drive to offer the best in cutting-edge technology, data-on-your-mobile and smartphones, and the HTC Evo 3D integrates all three.”
The HTC Evo captures 3D video and photos via a new and improved camera and a full-HD camcorder with zero shutter lag and stereo sound recording. These can also be seen in 3D-true-to-life detail on the phone’s stunning display, without glasses. The large 4.3 inch touchscreen displays incredibly crisp websites, vivid images and fluid video on a pixel-packed qHD screen. The latest blockbusters can be seen through HTC Watch – a new service that starts the show just seconds into the download and monitors the internet connection to ensure uninterrupted viewing. Through HTC Sense, users can also share photos and videos in different ways – by conveniently streaming content with a private audience via a TV or share it with the world on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.
Avid gamers can now upgrade their mobile gaming experience with 3D play on the HTC Evo 3D. A large number of 3D games are available for this new phone and the number is set to increase.
Other features on the HTC Evo 3D are an active lock-screen with zero steps to access information and tasks and a home-screen with richer content and a new visual design that accommodates more information and live updates. The smartphone operates on Android V2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense and allows faster browsing due to its fast dual-core processor and the latest Flash player. This new device from HTC also includes the standard features that users now expect – Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, MMS, Email, Push Email, IM and SMS with threaded view, and GPS with A-GPS support.
