FIMBank Sponsors C.S. Lawrence Art Exhibition

Malta Independent Sunday, 2 October 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 16 years ago

FIMBank plc is sponsoring an exhibition by artist C.S. Lawrence entitled Azure & Ochre. The exhibition, at the Auberge de France in Vittoriosa, will be open to the public between 2 and 30 October and will be opened by President George Abela. A percentage of the sales from the exhibition will be donated to the Malta Community Chest Fund.

C.S. Lawrence was born in East Africa in 1957. Eleven years later her family moved to the Middle East and she was sent to boarding school in England. She subsequently took up residence in Bahrain, where she started her career as a professional artist, and moved to Malta in 2002 – finding herself immersed in a landscape “full of brilliant colour”.

Commenting on FIMBank’s sponsorship of the exhibition, president Margrith Lütschg-Emmenegger said it was clear that C.S. Lawrence is “stimulated by the magnificent landscape of the Maltese islands, which in turn generate a feeling of serenity and give cause for reflection”. Ms Lütschg-Emmenegger said that FIMBank was pleased to support an artist who, like the bank, greatly appreciated the islands’ many qualities. “Moreover”, she added, “the fact that part of the proceeds from the exhibition will go to the Malta Community Chest Fund lends further merit to the event”.
