Malta University Holding Company (MUHC) has launched a new three-star hotel within walking distance of the University of Malta.
The 28-room hotel, renamed Hotel Kappara, had a soft opening last month in the presence of university rector Prof. Juanito Camilleri and pro rectors, and is now accepting bookings through its website www.hotelkappara.com.
“A lot of time and effort have been dedicated to ensuring that this new hotel will exceed the expectations of its guests through the high level of service and comfort, plus the variety of services offered,” Gianfranco Selvaggi, chief executive officer of MUHC, a former Thomson Holidays/TUI Business Manager, said.
“Whenever you look for a hotel, it is always the location you access,” he added, “and we believe that, thanks to our attention to detail, this compact hotel with excellent amenities is suitable for visiting lecturers, professors and post-graduate students who want to be close to the university, apart from any other discerning visitors looking for a comfortable, quiet and yet central hotel.”
Accommodation is in twin-bedded rooms with private bath or shower, including ‘special’ access to private facilities. Most rooms have balconies; there is also a roof top double room with a private terrace enjoying distant views of Marsamxett Harbour and Valletta. Any twin room can also be booked for single accommodation. Each room has a self-catering option, with a little kitchenette, enabling guests to be totally self-sufficient.
The hotel has a swimming pool with a spacious pool deck area. There is a roof top sun deck and spa, and a cosy restaurant-bar, with ‘al fresco’ dining. All rates include breakfast. Half board, inclusive of dinner, is also available, as is an a la carte menu.
Excellent Wi-Fi connectivity is available throughout and each room has an LCD television showing 37 free channels. A self-controlled air-conditioning system, a private safe and a direct dial telephone complete the services available in each room.
Frans Grech, the newly appointed hotel manager, has over 25 years’ experience in the sector, including various senior management positions with several local companies.
“We feel that the new Hotel Kappara has been set up with the right ingredients to offer and deliver a personalised hospitality service, which is seamlessly attentive and pleasant,” Mr Selvaggi said.
