Equity Trading levels noticeably drops

Trading activity during Friday’s session on the Malta Stock Exchange was very meagre, with only one equity trading and registering no change in price from the close price of the previous day.

Bank of Valletta Plc was the only equity that reported transactions in its name during the week’s last day of trading. With 9,606 shares transacted through eight transactions, BOV shares opened the trading session up by 0c.2 from the previous session at €2.452. However the price retreated to the previous closing price of €2.450 by the end of Friday’s session. Another bond which registered a considerable gain during yesterday’s session was the 7% FIMBank 2012-2019 which gained 1.5 percent or €1.48 to close at €101.50. The best unsatisfied bids and offers were 1,000 shares at €2.440 and 2,000 shares at €2.470 respectively.

Ten corporate bonds reported trades during Friday’s session, with four registering price changes. Out of these, the 7.5% Mediterranean Investments Holding Plc 2012-2014 registered an increase in its value of 1.5 percent, or €1.50 over the previous close, thus reaching €99.500, the 5.9% HSBC Bank Malta Plc Sub 2018, fell by 1.4%, or €1.500, to reach €105.000.

In the government bond market, four bonds reported movement during the session. The 7.8% MGS 2012 fell by 0.04 percent or 0c4, to reach 103.510. The 5.9% MGS 2015(II) had four transactions involving €9,320 nominal transacted. In this sector, a total nominal value of €15,980 changed hands over an aggregate of seven deals which amounted to a market value of €17,316.
