Speaker of the House Michael Frendo asked the Police Commissioner to investigate allegations by Opposition Leader Joseph Muscat, that email correspondence between himself and former RTK journalist Sabrina Agius had been hacked.

Dr Frendo said that he did not have the means to establish whether there was a breach of privilege prima facie based on the facts at hand. Nevertheless, the process to establish whether there was a breach has to be followed through.

Referring to a House of Commons ruling on hacking of MPs’ mobile phones, which was referred to the police, Dr Frendo asked the Commissioner of Police to investigate allegations and get back to him with the results.
