Trading activity during Friday’s session on the Malta Stock Exchange was rather subdued, with the MSE Index edging up 0.779 points or 0.03% higher from Thursday’s close, to reach the 3079.798 level. A low variety of activity was registered in the equity market which saw 55,820 shares changing hands through 21 deals, with only three different equities reporting transactions.

The largest volume of shares transacted during Friday’s session was once again seen in Bank of Valletta Plc. A total of 50,127 shares were traded having a total market value of €122,760. BOV shares ended the session higher 0.6% or 1c5, reaching the €2.440 mark.

HSBC Bank Malta Plc shares did not register any change from the previous session’s closing price and therefore closed Friday’s session at €2.650. A total of 400 shares changed hands through 2 deals.

The only drop in price was registered in GO Plc, which although reporting 4 transactions of 5,293 shares, saw the price go down by 2.8% or 2c9 from Thursday’s price, to close the session at €1.020.

In the fixed income sector of the market, activity was spread across eight corporate bonds and thirteen government stocks. In the corporate bond market, three bonds reported an increase in price, while five remained static. The 7.FIMBank Plc 2012/2019 USD bond reported an increase of 0.96% or $1.00, to reach $105.00. The 4.8% Bank of Valletta Plc Sub 2019 saw its price go up by 0.5% or 50c, to reach €102.00.

In the government bond market, the majority of the bonds transacted registered drops in price, with the largest drop being registered in the 5.2% MGS 2020(I), which saw a drop of 0.4% or 41c, to reach €108.880. On the other hand, the largest gain was registered in the 6.35% MGS 2013, which increased by 0.08%, or 9c to reach €106.080.
