Trading activity during Thursday’s session on the Malta Stock Exchange registered another positive session, ending in positive territory by gaining 5.9 points, to reach 3,137.723. An aggregate of 129,135 shares changed hands through 18 deals, with five different equities reporting transactions.
The largest volume of shares transacted were in RS2 Software Plc. A total of 49,800 shares exchanged hands having a total market value of €29,382. RS2 shares reported an increase of 1.72%, or 1c, and closed at €0.590.
In contrast, Bank of Valletta Plc saw a meagre level of activity with a sole transaction involving 400 shares to its name, having an aggregate market value of €1,000. BOV shares saw no change from the previous session’s closing price and remained at the €2.500 mark.
HSBC Bank Malta Plc shares rose in value by 0c1, or 0.04% in price through four transactions involving 35,700 shares. HSBC ended the session at €2.690.
FIMBank Plc shares registered ten trades involving 43,035 shares during Thursday’s session. This activity saw the share rise by 1c, or 1.32 percent, to close at $0.770.
Malta International Airport Plc shares rose in value by 4c, or 2.42% in price through a sole transaction involving 200 shares. HSBC ended the session at €1.690.
In the fixed income sector of the market, activity was spread across eleven corporate bonds and three government stocks. In the corporate bond market, out of the bonds traded, two bonds reported an increase in price, while three others registered losses. A nominal value of €197,059 was transacted and had an aggregate market value of €198,357. The bond that reported the highest drop in price was 6.6% Eden Finance Plc 2017-2020 which registered a loss of 0.97%, or €1.00, to hit €102. On the other hand, the 7.5% Mediterranean Investments Holdings Plc 2012-2014 gained 2.04% or €2.00, to reach €100. In the sovereign debt market, one bond registered a loss, while the remaining two bonds registered a gain in value. The only loss reported was in the 4.6% MGS 2020 which reported a drop of 0.21%, or €0.22 to reach €103.85.
