A 10-strong business delegation from Korea visited Malta recently to learn more about the country’s business environment and the wide range of trade and investment opportunities it offers.
While some of the larger corporations are already present in Malta, other delegates have representative offices in the region but were looking at how they could exploit Malta’s strategic location to reach even more markets while benefiting from the many fiscal and financial incentives Malta offers to encourage investment.
Sectors in which the companies operate include, among others, shipping and logistics, ICT, electronics and telecommunications, automotive, alternative energy, heavy machinery, industrial materials and chemicals.
Organised by Malta Enterprise with the support of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the business delegation attended a business forum that showcased the possible synergies and opportunities that exist.
The delegates were given detailed presentations by representatives from Malta Enterprise, the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, FinanceMalta and the Malta Tourism Authority, while a representative of ST Microelectronics spoke about his company’s experience in trading with Korean companies.
During its stay in Malta, the business delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister and also visited SmartCity and the Freeport. Through the latter visit, the delegates could see with their own eyes the top notch facilities available for logistics and transhipment which make Malta an ideal hub to reach regional markets while operating from an economically, politically and socially stable environment.
