The Consulate General of Malta in Dubai and the Malta Tourism Authority recently organised and led a familiarization trip to Malta with the support of Emirates Airline. This is an annual endeavour from the UAE office in order to maximize the opportunities available in Malta to travel agents of the UAE.
Malta’s reputation has evolved from a sun and sea destination to the choice for high level meetings and conferences that receive detailed care and 5 star creativity and service. The select group of agents that participated represented a total of 10 leading agencies that are active in the sectors of Holidays, group travel and incentives and handle a large base of corporate clients in the UAE.
The prime focus of this initiative was to showcase the high profile MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) industry to the UAE agents for its ability to cater to events of all sizes, requirements and at venues ranging from Palazzos to the stunning Mediterranean Conference Centre or even the Upper Barrakka gardens overlooking the Grand Harbour.
During the trip, the agenda spanned an interesting variety of activities in Malta including a chance to explore one of the local villages of Birgu on individual Segways, a cheese making demonstration and visits to several unique locales such as the Silent City of Mdina and the sister island of Gozo.
The feedback received from agents has been extremely positive with Malta surpassing the expectations of most.
