Malta Independent Sunday, 4 December 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Middlesea Insurance is honouring its commitment and will support Paqpaqli ghal-Istrina by once again taking an active part in the popular national charity event with the aim of raising funds for the Malta Community Chest Fund, while giving car enthusiasts and the public in general the opportunity to admire a variety of beautiful cars.

The event is taking place next Sunday, 11 December, at Malta International Airport, including the Lufthansa Technik apron, and runs from 9am to 3.30pm.

The past editions always proved to be a big success, and this year’s edition promises to be no less. The main attraction of this year’s Paqpaqli ghal-Istrina will be the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, which at a maximum speed of 431 km/h is the world’s fastest convertible − surely a car enthusiast’s dream. Other main attractions will be the show by motorcycle stunt rider Angyal Zoltan, as well as the Toyota Hilux Arctic Challenge, the car that was used by Top Gear to reach the North Pole.

Hundreds of other vehicles will also be on display during the day including Aston Martins, Jaguars, Lamborghinis and Ferraris along with a number of modified and customized cars, trucks, classic cars and motorcycles, and an aircraft exhibition.

The 11th edition of Paqpaqli ghall-Istrina was launched at Verdala Palace by President Dr George Abela.

Christopher Borg, Vice President Corporate Affairs represented Middlesea Insurance at this opening ceremony. Mr Borg said Middlesea Insurance is pleased to support this event in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme. “The Malta Community Chest Fund’s noble cause definitely has the support of our company and is in line with our corporate values. While Middlesea provides its share of financial support, we urge the public to again be generous by giving a helping hand to improve the quality of life of people who are in need.”
