The Maltese Embassy in Paris hosted a book launch at its new premises on the occasion of the publication of Professor Alain Blondy’s latest work entitled Malte 7000 ans d’Histoire (Malta 7000 years of History).

Alain Blondy is Professor at the Sorbonne (Paris IV) and, having specialised in Maltese and Mediterranean history, is the author of many books and articles on the history of Malta and the Order of St John. His latest publication is a clearly written and comprehensive 200-page account of the long and varied history of the Maltese archipelago in the French language which starts from the Neolithic  period and ends with Malta’s recent entry in the European Union.

Ambassador Mark A. Miggiani introduced Alain Blondy to the guests present and invited him to speak a few words. Professor Blondy spoke briefly about his long attachment to Malta, and how this book was the culmination of a life’s work and research. Marie Amelie Dewavrin, President for the Institute of Maltese Culture, whose organisation helped finance the publication of the book, was also invited to address the present crowd. She underlined the utility of having a publication like this available to the francophone community. The book was then made available for sale.

The book launch was well-attended by distinguished guests that included academics from the Sorbonne, personalities from the political arena, ambassadors and consuls as well as guests in the travel business.
