Westin Dragonara Resort Recognised for waste management efforts

Malta Independent Saturday, 17 December 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

During the past two years the Westin Dragonara Resort implemented a waste separation project which was officially launched in April 2010 to be in line with local legislations.

The process involved introducing waste separation bins in all the outlets, offices as well as in all the 340 guest rooms and suites that the resort features. This project was also implemented in the kitchen where metal is being separated as well as other organic waste. Cooking oil is also separated disposed of by an official contractor. The resort also invested in a baler machine to process all cardboard and is collected separately.

All these actions paid off as The Westin Dragonara Resort Malta has won the first edition of the Waste Minimisation Award as part of the Environment Award of Enterprise, organised by Cleaner Technology Centre (Malta).
