Premier Capital PLC recently marked yet another business success with the opening of two McDonald’s restaurants in Latvia, bringing the total investment for 2011 to €6.4million. This will be the first time that the McDonald’s brand in the Baltics will experience such an impressive expansion over such a short period of time.
The first was opened on 3 November in Riga and is regarded as the biggest McDonald’s restaurant in Latvia, which also includes a convenient Drive-Thru. With a total area of 500m2 and 121 seating spaces, the new Imanta restaurant is a true representation of the McDonald’s brand values. As a family-friendly restaurant it comes equipped with a gym and fun area to encourage physical activity as well as a ‘Birthday Party Room’ to host children’s parties. Moreover, this McDonald‘s restaurant has the biggest Drive-Thru in Lativa and with its new optimised operations it will ensure a faster customer service, calculating to serve an average of one car every minute, which means approximately 1,440 cars over 24 hours.
The other McDonald’s restaurant, which opened on 6 December, is the first to open outside Riga in Daugavpils where further plans for expansion were also announced upon the opening of this restaurant. The McDonald’s restaurant in Daugavpils will be the first two-storey Drive-Thru restaurant in Latvia and is one of five Drive-Thru restaurants to be operating in this area. With many similarities to the Imanta restaurant, the Daugavpils restaurant also comes equipped with a gym and fun room for children. This new restaurant also includes a state-of-the-art McCafe, which will be offering delicious beverages and cakes to its many customers.
Currently Latvia has ten McDonald’s restaurants, six of which have a Drive-Thru area and also three McCafe’s that serve a wide selection of coffees and pastries. Premier Capital PLC will also be opening another restaurant in January of next year in Riga ensuring that their investment will continue to sustain the McDonald’s brand as the leading one in the catering sector. Regardless of the economic situation, they also plan to invest a further €38million to expand the McDonald’s brand to 35 restaurants over a five-year period between 2010 and 2014, ensuring high accessibility to the 22 million customers that visit McDonald’s yearly.
“In the past few years I have attended my fair share of McDonald’s official opening, but to be honest, every opening brings with it a great deal of excitement. Above all, this always proves to be a rewarding experience for me when I take into consideration the large investment that is taking place in the Baltics. I am proud to say that today, our McDonald’s restaurants are comfortable, trendy, welcoming and truly offer our customers a unique experience,” remarked Melo Hili, Managing Director of Premier Capital plc.
