Malta Independent Sunday, 1 January 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Four new books from the award-winning Milly, Molly children’s series have been published, bringing the total of Milly, Molly books translated into Maltese to 20.

The new books, translated by Frans A. Attard, are Milly, Molly u l-Missirijiet (Milly, Molly and Different Dads), Milly, Molly u z-Zwiemel Melh u Bzar (Milly, Molly and Salt and Pepper), Milly u Molly Jghinu l-Annimali (Milly and Molly help the animals) and Milly, Molly u Ella Bella Boo (Milly, Molly and Ella Bella Boo).

The Milly, Molly books are translated into more that 40 languages and are written for children up to the age of eight. The stories relate to the adventures of two little girls from different ethnic backgrounds, along with their multi-cultural friends. All the books promote the acceptance of diversity and the teaching of life-skills, captured in a simple motto, We may look different but we feel the same. The stories deal with the kinds of questions and trials that children face every day and offer understanding in such matters as honesty, respect for others, difference, respect for nature, bullying, forgiveness and acceptance of difference. All stories are beautifully illustrated.

The Milly, Molly stories are being published in Maltese as well as the original English version in the same book. In this way the books could be read in Maltese as well as in English.
