BOV Most active but remains stable at €2.21

On Friday the MSE index, gained 0.11 per cent to 3055.802 points as 67 transactions were carried out for a total value of €1,390,984. In the equity market a total of seven equities were traded for a total value of €59,183 on 30 transactions. Two equities were positive, one was negative and four remained stable.

Malta International Airport plc was the best performer of the day as its share price increased by 0.5 per cent or 0.010c to €1.750 on a single deal of 1,000 shares for a total value of €1,750.

HSBC Bank Malta plc was the other positive traded equity of the day as its share price appreciated by 0.3 per cent or 0.010c to €2.570 on two deals for a total volume of 1,940 and a total value of €4,955.

MaltaPost plc was the only negative performer for the day as its share price dropped by 3.03 per cent or 0.030c to €0.96 on two deals for a total volume of 2,202 shares and a total value of €2,113.

Bank of Valletta plc, GO plc, Island Hotels Group Holdings plc and Lombard Bank Malta plc all remained stable.

In the bond market nine corporate bonds were negotiated for a total value of €87,048 and nine government bonds were negotiated for a total value of €1,186,827.

In the corporate bonds market the 4.6% HSBC Bank Malta 2017 appreciated by 0.1 per cent to €101.600 on a single deal of 5,000. The 6.2% Mizzi Organisation Finance 2016/19 appreciated by 0.05 per cent too 103.050 on two deals of 1,200. The 6% Gasan Finance 2014/16 was the only negative performer as its price dropped by 0.2 per cent to €102.020 on three deals for a total volume of 10,700.

The 7% GAP Developments 2011/13, the 5.35% Izola Bank 2015, the 6.25% Mediterranean Bank 2015, the 6.7% AX Investments 2014/16, the 7% MIDI 2016/18 and the 6% Simonds Farsons Cisk 2017/20 remained stable.

In the government bonds market the 5.2% MGS 2020 was the best performer as it appreciated by 0.2 per cent to €109.080 on a single deal of 31,235. The 5% MGS 2021 appreciated by 0.05 per cent to €106.970 on a single deal of 2,000. The 3.6% MGS 2013 IV appreciated by 0.02 per cent to €102.880 on two deals for a total volume of 900,000.

The 5.1% MGS 2014 III, the 5.9% MGS 2015 II and the 6.65% MGS 2016 lost most ground as they dropped by 0.03 per cent respectively. The 4.8% MGS 2016 II was also negative as it dropped by 0.02 per cent to €107.440 on a single deal of 9,318. The 5.7% MGS 2012 III dropped by 0.01 per cent to €102.700 on a single deal of 93,175.

Meanwhile the 5.25% MGS 2030 remained stable at €103.300 on a single deal of 8,000.

Bank of Valletta plc most active equity on MSE

Trading activity during Tuesday’s session on the Malta Stock Exchange saw the MSE Index increase by 0.1 percent, to close at the 3,094.311 level. There were 17 deals in the equity market, where 35,512 shares changed hands, across two equities for a total value of €75,944.

For the second session this week, Bank of Valletta plc registered the majority of the deals when 32,312 shares changed hands across 15 deals. Total market value associated with this equity amounted to €73,061. BOV’s share price increased by 0.4 percent, or 0.01c, to reach €2.270 by the end of trading.

GO Plc remained stable at €0.900 as 3,200 shares changed hands across 2 deals.

In the fixed income sector of the market, activity was spread across six corporate bonds and 12 government stocks. In the corporate bond market, two bonds reported an increase in price, while four others remained unchanged. The 4.8% Bank of Valletta 2018 and the 7% MIDI 2016/18 increased by 0.5 per cent respectively. The 4.8% Bank of Valletta 2018 closed at a price of €103.000, while the 7% MIDI 2016/18 closed at €102.000. A total value of €57,267 was negotiated across ten deals in the corporate bond market.

In the government bond market, seven government bonds closed on a positive note and five registered losses. The 5% MGS 2021 was the best performer as it gained 0.2 per cent to close at €106.02 across two deals. The worst performer for the day was the 6.6% MGS 2014 as its price dropped by 0.1 per cent across three deals and closed at €109.550. A total value of €889,824 was negotiated across 26 deals in the government bond market.
