Joseph F Borg, Chief Regulatory Officer at Malta’s Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA), was elected and appointed as a board member of the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) following an election held at the end of January in London.
The IAGR, an independent, non-profit corporation established over 30 years ago, works to advance the effectiveness and efficiency of gaming regulation throughout the world and provides a forum in which gaming regulators from various countries can meet, exchange views and information, and discuss policy issues.
As a board member Dr Borg will be actively participating and leading specific workshops focused on online and land-based gaming.
LGA CEO Reuben Portanier remarked that, “Having Dr Borg elected on the IAGR board by gaming regulators from around the world is recognition of LGA’s global reputation, and a manifestation of trust in Dr Borg. I am sure he will be the region’s voice in one of the most influential international regulatory fora and shall be an ambassador of the Maltese online gaming regulatory model and approach.”
Dr Borg joined the Authority in 2007 as Director Legal and Enforcement and occupied this position for almost four years, before being appointed Chief Regulatory Officer in 2010.
