The Express Group has concluded a two-year extension project that forms part of a wider exercise aimed at strengthening the Group’s commercial activity to be able to meet clients’ demands and new market requirements.
“Today is an important milestone, a milestone in a journey that continues. Our main commitment is that of providing one source for all the client’s logistical needs and to keep customising the services that we offer in a way that suit the requirements of any particular client. We mean business, we do it professionally and today’s milestone reflects this philosophy,” commented Express Trailers General Manager, Johann Vella, during the recent opening of a new extension to its premises by President George Abela.
President Abela unveiled a commemorative bust of Emmanuel Vella, founder of Express Group, in the presence of the company’s Board of Directors, management and employees.
In his welcoming speech, Express Group Chairman Franco Azzopardi explained how this extensive restructuring project witnesses the company’s constant focus and commitment to deliver the best service to its clients. Mr Azzopardi also said that the ceremony has a particular relevance and as it also launched the Emmanuel Vella Fund through which the group will actively involve itself in a number of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, and through which the company will support a number of organisations, like The Malta Community Chest Fund.
“The newly built reception area, the lobby, the re-organisation of all the employees within the building and the streamlining of operations are all part of Express Group’s constant investment in modernization and commitment to deliver the best service to all its clients. Express Group operates within a very variable industry that is constantly presenting new challenges and which continuously requires us to keep adapting the way we do business. As a customer-centric organisation, we have always turned these challenges into opportunities and this is what made Express Group the leader in the transport and logistics sector,” said Mr Azzopardi.
Founded by the late Emmanuel Vella after World War II, Express Group grew to become the Maltese leader in the provision of total logistic solutions. Today, the Group is made up of the Emmanuel Vella & Sons Ltd, Express Trailers, Express Freights and Eyre Cargo. Johann Vella said that “notwithstanding this leading position, we are proud to have remained a tightly knit family business and throughout all our operations we seek to uphold the very values on which this company is built, namely that of providing the best logistical service and support to all our clients.”
Johann Vella added that the completion of this important phase forms part of an extensive project that has already witnessed substantial investment in a modern fleet of new trailers and an infrastructural project of storage facilities. “In fact, we are currently carrying out another project within the adjacent premises to further increase the capacity of our temperature-regulated storage facilities which should increase the organisation’s capacity. We are also planning a total overhaul and rebranding of our VRT testing services, a project due to be launched in the coming weeks.”
