Malta Independent Sunday, 26 February 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The imaginatively named team Tfal t’Ommna, a team made up of four BOV Club members, was presented with €3,000, the final prize of the BOV Club Treasure Hunt that was launched on the popular social networking site Facebook in October 2011. The team members were Daniel Cilia, Shanna Spiteri, Veronica Lynn Mizzi and Jean Pierre Cassar.

Over 100 teams participated in the 10-week virtual treasure hunt that had teams identifying secret locations through clues that were released each week on the specifically developed Facebook application. The top nine performing teams were invited to compete in a traditional walking treasure hunt along the streets of Valletta for the final prize.

Bernard Azzopardi, Head BOV Club at Bank of Valletta presented the prize to the winning team. “Team work and the distribution of tasks were some of the aspects demonstrated by the teams in tackling each solution in the treasure hunt,” said Mr Azzopardi. “The aim of this treasure hunt was to encourage co-ordination while increasing more awareness about Bank of Valletta’s involvement in the community through various projects around the capital city.”

Joyce Tabone from BOV’s marketing team described the project as, “An exciting and innovative blend of social media and traditional channels that saw record participation and a whole new level of engagement.” Ms Tabone added, “We’re pleased with the turnout and the participation and would like to thank all BOV Club students who took up the challenge and participated in the BOV Club treasure hunt.”
