Car-pooling At GasanMamo reduces carbon emissions

Malta Independent Sunday, 11 March 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Employees of GasanMamo Insurance have started a car-pooling initiative, in an effort to reduce fuel consumption and be kinder to the environment. An initiative of the internal Green Team, the car-sharing system involves reducing the daily car trips to GasanMamo’s head office and branches, with two to three employees sharing a car on each trip.

Car sharing is a more environmentally friendly and sustainable way to travel as it cuts on fuel consumption and traffic. “When more people use one vehicle, this reduces the number of cars on the road and therefore reduces carbon emissions,” said Julian J. Mamo, Director. “We’re proud of our employees who not only fully support the company’s green initiatives but who also come up with new ideas for sustainable working and living.”

GasanMamo has been implementing environment friendly schemes that reduce the company’s carbon footprint for a number of years now. These include new heating and cooling systems that are energy efficient, energy saving lights, recycling of used batteries and printer toners, reducing and reusing paper, separation of waste, and the use of solar energy.
