St Augustine Street and Square in Rabat on Sunday saw a social activity marking the many months-long embellishment of the area, attended by Resources Minister George Pullicino.
The works involved an area of 2,000 square metres of the street and square in front of the church, and included replacement of services, laying of new lava paving and use of the old lava to conserve part of the street.
The works cost about €400,000 and were carried out by the ministry’s works division.
The DOI said the works complement others, such as the restoration of a water spout found on Saqqajja hill, and the embellishment of the so-called għalqa ta’ Kola, which was turned into a parking area, eliminating the dust residents suffered from every time the wind blew.
The bastions at Mdina are also being restored.
