The French Automotive Press Association presented its Car of the Year award to the Citroën DS5. Two years after the first DS was launched, more than 190,000 cars have been sold, demonstrating the success of this product line. More than 8,500 orders for a DS5 have been registered in the three months since the launch.
In Spain, on 10 March, an exceptional show, which attracted more than 50,000 spectators on Plaza del Ayuntamiento in Valencia, feted the DS5 just ahead of the traditional Falles celebrations that take place in the city’s streets and squares between 16 and 19 March.
Released at the end of 2011, the DS5 comes in a full hybrid diesel version. This technology, offered on a Citroën for the first time, combines performance (200 BHP, 4WD, “zero emissions” driving mode, and accelerator boost function) and CO2 emissions of only 99 g/km. The power train consists of an HDi 160 engine on the front drive train combined with a 37 BHP electric motor on the rear wheel. The DS5 Hybrid4 offers a real technological advance with fuel consumption and carbon emissions cut by up to 35% in the city.
